NCC has commenced the development of Torsplan Phase 2 in Stockholm’s Hagastaden district. The property, which comprises 26,000 square meters of floor space, is being developed for both office and retail premises.
Torsplan aims to be the first Swedish building to achieve BREEAM Outstanding environmental certification.
NCC previously developed the Torsplan Phase 1 project in Hagastaden, which was sold in 2013. Construction on Phase 2 of Torsplan will begin after the summer and is scheduled for completion in late 2016.
“We saw significant demand for the premises in Phase 1 and have already received several interesting inquiries from potential tenants for Phase 2,” says Carola Lavén, Business Area Manager at NCC Property Development.
Hagastaden, located between Norra Stationsgatan and Karolinska Hospital, will become a totally new city district in Stockholm with world-class research, advanced care and a combination of offices, retail activities, housing and green areas.
The property will be designated a GreenBuilding under the EU program to reduce energy consumption and will aspire to the highest level of certification – Outstanding – under the international environmental certification system BREEAM. This means that considerable attention will be paid to the building’s indoor environment, ecology and lifecycle, as well as energy and water consumption.
The premises are also being developed in accordance with the Future Office by NCC concept, which is a Nordic concept to create attractive and sustainable workplaces for customers.
The project is being carried out on a proprietary basis and the construction contract will be registered among orders in the NCC Construction Sweden business area during the third quarter of 2014.
