A construction team led by Bechtel has completed the installation of the final portion of the elevated Tysons East Guideway. This Guideway is one of the three aerial sections stretching up to a total distance of three miles and above.
The Tysons East Guideway is made up of 1,479 segments of concrete with each segment weighing 25 to 40 t.
The completion of this installation paves the way for the early close out of all other related works such laying of the rail track in this part of the guideway, connecting the systems and testing them. Construction of the stations is also running on schedule. The structures of the Tysons East Station and Wiehle Avenue have been completed and 80% of the work on the first phase has been completed. Around 300 electricians are being employed to carry out the next phase of construction.
The Dulles Metrorail Project is an extension of the current Metrorail system in Washington D.C. The Metrorail is presently being managed by Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. Bechtel has already been instrumental in completing the installation of various metro systems such as the San Francisco BART system, Athens Metro, modernisation of West Coast Main Line Route and Jubilee Line Extension on the London Underground.
