Churchill has announced that the general contracting section of Stuart Olson Dominion Construction has received two new major contracts from the public and private sector clients in Manitoba and British Columbia.
Stuart Olson Dominion has secured a $98 million worth contract in British Columbia to build a 25-storey, 745 Thurlow, 400,000 sq. ft office tower, comprising a three-storey podium for the use of retail and services and six floor under-grade parking construction, which is situated in 745 Thurlow Street in Vancouver. This tower will be a sustainable construction that targets LEED Gold certification. Stuart Olson Dominion is expecting to commence the construction in March 2012 and planning to complete it in April 2015. On behalf of the British Columbia Investment Management, BentallKennedy is developing the building.
In addition, Stuart Olson Dominion has been selected as the construction manager of a $60 million worth project, which includes the construction and renovation of the University of Manitoba’s Tache Hall Theatre, Music and Art complex. The area of the project is 220,000 sq. ft, which is a complex including the Tache Hall renovation, the destruction of the gymnasiums and center Tache Hall wings and a new 90,000 sq. ft, two-storey, music or auditorium rehearsal addition at the south-west part of the Tache Hall. The plan of all these new constructions is to achieve a LEED Silver certification. Stuart Olson Dominion is likely to start the construction in October 2011 and complete it in July 2014.
