US-based hardwood veneer products and plywood manufacturer is now offering the Columbia Radius Bending Plywood for applications that have a curved contour. This new product is ideal for applications which have curved cabinetry, arches, furniture and columns when continuity from a straight edge is required and unnecessary formaldehyde resulting out of wood products is to be avoided.
The plywood has the ability to bend at minimum radius of 12” and can bend at smaller radiuses when additional force is applied.
Particular applications where this plywood can be highly useful are curved cabinets, rounded wall units and columns, receptions desks, workstations, arches and arched casings and curved cabinet ends or islands. Installation can be made in either long grain or cross grain directions. The wood can be covered by a wide range of laminates or paper backed veneers to create the desired finish. The radius panels are made out rotary tropical hardwood outer backs along a thin inner ply for 2-ply or 3-ply constructions. The panels are available in thicknesses of 1/8” to 16mm.
The radius panels are made in different specifications according to different regions depending on the availability of materials and the capacity of the mill. The panels are also available in 4’X8’ long-grain and 8’X4’ cross-grain styles. The Columbia Radius Bending Plywood has been developed by the company using its proprietary PureBond technology, which is free of formaldehyde.
