The Bozzuto Group, a Washington D.C., headquartered company, has declared that two of its residential developments have earned the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) sponsored LEED certification.
The Fitzgerald, a Mount Vernon district, Baltimore, located mixed-use community, has obtained LEED Silver Certification and Philadelphia suburb located apartment community, Riverwalk at Millennium was awarded LEED certification. The properties were developed by Bozzuto Development, constructed by Bozzuto Construction and presently managed by Bozzuto Management.
The Fitzgerald developed by Bozzuto Group over an area of 4.6 acres of land includes 275 luxury apartments; retail facilities in around 24,000 square feet area and have a facility to park 1,245 cars. The land is owned by the University of Baltimore. The construction has achieved LEED Silver Certification by following eco-friendly construction practices and by using green design features. The building incorporates facilities to improve efficient usage of water and to let in clean air.
Riverwalk at Millennium suffered considerable level of fire damages to nearly half of its 375 units in 2008. Bozzuto rebuilt nearly one half of the apartments completely from the scratch. The newly constructed flats met the LEED certification criteria through the usage of green construction features such as water conserving landscaping, use of paint and carpets with low emission levels and by installing water saving facilities. The building utilized locally sourced building materials.
