Pro-Tech Energy Solutions LLC, a self-funded turnkey energy services company, today announced that it is working with Mansfield Township Elementary School to outfit the building with energy efficient lighting upgrades.
Educating students in kindergarten through sixth grade, Mansfield Elementary is located at 50 Port Murray Road in Port Murray, N.J. in Mansfield Township (Warren County).
"The school's gym was outfitted with outdated lighting fixtures and that is a two-fold problem; one is in maintenance costs and the other is in energy consumption," said John Martin, Principal, Pro-Tech Energy Solutions. "We have completed the lighting retrofit of twenty (20) 400-watt metal halide fixtures to 234-watt fluorescent high-bay lighting fixtures that allowed us to cut the wattage in half while increasing the lighting levels and improving the color rendering in the gymnasium."
"We are always looking for new ways to save on operating expenses without compromising the comfort or safety of the students, faculty and staff," said Mary Roszkowski, School Business Administrator, Mansfield Township Elementary School. "Pro-Tech completed the gym retrofit and has already begun an audit of the remainder of the school to see where else we can save."
Once the audit is fully complete, Pro-Tech anticipates updating all the current types of lighting fixtures and emergency exit lighting currently in place throughout the school to higher efficiency models without sacrificing their light levels. "We plan on doing the rest of the facility quickly to show an even faster return on investment to help relieve the budget restraints found in NJ school systems throughout the state," commented Martin.
The remainder of upgrades that Pro-Tech will perform in the facility are expected to give the school a major energy savings of approximately 30 to 40 percent overall. "An increasing number of schools are recognizing that cost-efficient and simple energy upgrades can offer school districts significant savings and the opportunity to be more environmentally-friendly," added Martin. "A lighting upgrade for a gym only takes two to three days, but can offer a 50 to 60 percent savings in electrical consumption."
