Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE Amex:BKR), announced today that the design-build team of Baker and The Korte Company has been awarded four separate contracts by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, to design and construct Armed Forces Reserve Facilities in McAlester, Okla.; Tyler, Texas; Round Rock, Texas; and Fort Allen, Puerto Rico.
The total construction value of the facilities is $74 million while Baker’s combined fee for the projects will be $5.0 million. Baker will be providing architecture and engineering design services for the projects. Over the past five years, Baker has completed more than 30 reserve facility projects with a total constructed value in excess of $750 million.
Baker’s David M. Martin, P.E., vice president and director of facility planning and design said, “We are very pleased to be selected for these contracts. It allows Baker to build our nationwide working relationship with a premier construction company and strengthen our relationship with the Louisville District, a strategic, long-term client. Most significantly, we have the opportunity to build modern and well-equipped facilities for the training of the men and women of our Armed Forces to keep them better prepared and safer as they perform their duties in defense of our country.”
