On April 15, the New Meadowlands Stadium will host the annual fundraising reception of the Architecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE) Mentor Program of New Jersey. Super Bowl XXV Most Valuable Player Ottis "O.J." Anderson will be on hand to sign autographs and greet fans.
One of the first public events to be held at the future home of the New York Giants and New York Jets, the reception is sponsored by the New Meadowlands Stadium, the facility's contractor, Skanska, and the Mechanical Contractors Association of New Jersey. Starting at 6 p.m., the reception will be held in the Coach's Club and include a stadium tour, giveaways, hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer and soft drinks. Single tickets are $150; two tickets or more are $100 each. Register online at www.acenj.kintera.org/2010CocktailReception or contact ACE at (201) 207-5680.
Upon completion in April, the New Meadowlands Stadium will provide a seating capacity of 82,500 and memorable game-day experiences. The facility features four 30 foot by 118 foot high-definition video display boards located in each stadium corner as well as a 48 inch by 2200 foot ribbon board that circles the interior bowl. Stretching more than 18,000 square feet, the Coach's Club is set directly in between the two team locker rooms and provides exclusive field level access to the 50 yard line as well as a private on-field deck just five yards behind the home team's bench. The Coach's Club features the glass-enclosed post-game interview room, which is available exclusively Coach's Club ticket holders.
The ACE Mentor Program helps hundreds of high school students throughout New Jersey and New York get started in a building design career through a 15-week training program. ACE students are eligible for college scholarships, visit job sites, attend presentations, receive apprenticeship training classes, and conduct mock interviews. Each ACE student participates in a group or chapter that creates unique design projects based on their own interests. The training program culminates in annual regional group presentations by each group of students.
The ACE New Jersey program is an affiliate of a national non-profit organization that provides mentoring opportunities to about 13,000 high school students considering careers in architecture, construction, engineering, or related fields. ACE mentors are charged with providing mentoring and scholarship opportunities for the students as they move through their secondary education and support them in making decisions about their future.
