WTW Architects to Design Gymnasium Building at Penn State Beaver

Penn State’s Board of Trustees today (March 19) approved the appointment of WTW Architects of Pittsburgh as the architect for the design of the Gymnasium Building addition at Penn State Beaver. The Board of Trustees architect/engineer selection committee recommended the appointment.

WTW Architects will design and build a 4,000-square-foot addition to the existing gymnasium.

“Our faculty, staff and students are excited about moving forward with the design and construction of the Wellness Center, an addition to the campus gymnasium,” Gary B. Keefer, chancellor at Penn State Beaver, said. “This project is a perfect example of how student facility fees help to bring about significant campus projects. Beaver campus students have committed a total of $300,000 over three years toward the project, with the remainder of the funding coming from the campus budget, driven by enrollment growth, and a gift of $100,000 from Carl Bartuch, a Beaver campus alumnus.”

When completed, the Wellness Center will serve as a visual focal point for the public as they enter campus and will complement other physical plant enhancements, including the Ross Administration Building and a variety of landscape improvements, Keefer said.

"We anticipate that the new Wellness Center will enhance recruiting since most other area colleges and universities have modern wellness facilities," the chancellor said. "More importantly, it will provide our students with a state-of-the-art exercise facility to enhance their physical well-being.
