STRABAG SE, Central and Eastern Europe’s largest construction group and the market leader in the transportation infrastructure segment in Poland, announces a further success. The General Directorate for National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA) today awarded STRABAG the contract to build the 36.5 km section of the S7 Expressway between Kalsk and Mi³om³yn approximately 100 km northwest of Warsaw.
Construction for the € 260 million (PLN 1.1 billion) contract will begin in March and is expected to end in July 2012. The works comprise the construction of the four-lane expressway, the conversion under traffic of the parallel DK7 road as well as the construction of 27 bridges, four service areas and three junctions. Construction will be carried out by the STRABAG subsidiaries STRABAG Polska (51 %) and HERMANN KIRCHNER Polska (49 %).
With the new contract, STRABAG further solidifies its leadership position on the Polish transportation infrastructure market and raises its total order backlog in Poland to approximately € 2.6 billion.
“Due to the geological conditions and short construction period, this project requires a high level of technical know-how. We won out over the other established Polish bidders for this reason, with a price that is not only competitive but also economically justifiable,” says Hans Peter Haselsteiner, CEO of STRABAG SE.
