Paint formulators working toward compliance with the 2010 European volatile organic compound (VOC) reduction directive will be very interested in a free, seven-minute on-line presentation by Dr. Anne Koller of Dow Coating Materials, who describes the innovative performance and sustainability benefits of trim paints formulated using the new Primal™ HG-1000 based on Hydrotech™ technology. Available on demand, Dr. Koller’s overview includes flow and leveling comparisons, gloss characteristics, open time test results, interior and exterior yellowing resistance, durability, physical characteristics and other valuable information.
“Dr. Koller’s web seminar is designed to introduce the benefits of using Primal™ HG-1000 with our high-performance, environmentally advanced water-based Hydrotech™ technology for low-VOC, metal-drier free, decorative gloss trim coatings to paint formulators at their convenience,” said Giuseppe Santoro, marketing manager, Dow Coating Materials Europe. “At the end of the presentation, viewers will find a link for more information on all our Hydrotech™ paint and coatings solutions.”
Hydrotech™ technology can enable the formulation of paints that can exhibit less cracking and better overall durability. Coatings made using the new Primal™ HG-1000 binder are expected to be cobalt free, low-odour, free of alkyl phenyl ethoxylates (APEO), and require no special handling. Ideal for exterior paints where durability is paramount, all Hydrotech™ technology formulations are low-VOC, which helps maintain better air quality during application while reducing emissions during curing. Formulations made using Primal™ HG-1000 binder also clean up with water, eliminating the need for cleaning products containing high-VOC mineral spirits.
