ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR magazine at www.ecmag.com now offers expanded content, more targeted searching, articles grouped by ratings, a new video page and sponsored multimedia features for deeper resources and easier navigation.
“As the primary resource for electrical contractors, we’re continually working to enhance both the print and online versions to anticipate our subscribers’ changing needs,” said John Maisel, publisher of ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR magazine from the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). “Our Web site aims to deliver more in-depth content, easier searching and more opportunities for sponsored content and project features,” he said.
The updated site allows topic-specific searching in areas such as codes/standards/safety, green building, lighting, management essentials, residential and systems, culling together all archived content. A new video page will feature ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR videos and Webinars as well as sponsored videos from manufacturers and other trade allies. Additions and enhancements will also include sponsored white papers and case studies, and two article groups ranked by top-rated and most popular ratings. The landing page was also eliminated, now integrating its content with the original homepage.
New elements include:
- Subject Tags and Tabs: the new subject tag bar combines select subjects into umbrella topics; for example, the new Management Essentials tag will display articles about estimating, financial and other topics that cover the business side of electrical contracting
- Homepage Changes: migrates the entirety of the current issue to the homepage
- Clickable Archive Pages: enhanced functionality; user-friendly to search content
- Top Rated and Most Popular Articles: three or four stories appear on the homepage with links to the top 50 rated and most popular articles
- Dedicated Video Section: devoted to video content, primarily to feature product demonstrations and other news from industry manufacturers
- Recharging the Industry: completely reader-driven, features readers’ success stories about projects involving American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds
- White Papers Archive: more material and easier access, including case studies
- Follow Us: on Facebook and Twitter; ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR also has a LinkedIn Group and a newsfeed
