The Churchill Corporation announces today that Stuart Olson Constructors Inc., has been selected by several project owners to build and replace social infrastructure in the Southern Alberta and British Columbia regions.
In Southern Alberta, Alberta Health Services has recently awarded Stuart Olson a $41 million construction management contract to expand the Red Deer Cancer Centre. Stuart Olson will partner with HFKS Architects to deliver this LEED Silver project which is scheduled to break ground in December 2009 and will wrap up in November 2011. This project will include:
- An additional 3,230 square metres (35,000 square foot) clinical space
for radiation therapy services;
- An additional 580 square metres (6,200 square foot) for three new
radiation therapy vaults; and
- Renovation to approximately 1,025 square metres (11,000 square foot)
of the existing Central Alberta Cancer Centre.
Separately, the City of Calgary has awarded Stuart Olson a $66 million contract to build The Genesis Centre of Community Wellness in Northeast Calgary. The Genesis Centre will house branches of the Calgary Public Library and YMCA Calgary, a human and social services centre, indoor and outdoor sports facilities and community gathering places. Construction is expected to start immediately and the facility is expected to open its doors in 2011.
On the west side of the Rocky Mountains, Stuart Olson has accepted the $6.5 million contract for a new 900 person capacity Roman Catholic Church for the Our Lady of The Assumption Parish in Port Coquitlam, BC. This new facility will replace the existing Parish, which was originally constructed in 1957. The building will be approximately 1,260 square metres (13,500 square foot) on a site of approximately 5,980 square metres (64,400 square foot). We anticipate the project will be complete by September 2010.
