Fillpoint Headquarters in Malta, New York Receives LEED Certification

Fillpoint has now achieved LEED® Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council

Fillpoint, one of the videogame industry’s leading providers of online distribution, fulfillment, and e-commerce services for national retailers, today announced that it’s headquarters operating in Malta, New York has achieved LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. In the spring of 2006, Fillpoint began construction on an all-new facility. Fillpoint’s expansion was driven by tremendous sales growth and its commitment to continuously provide their customers with the highest level of service and efficiency. With its focus on the future, Fillpoint set out to design the first “green building” in Malta, NY that would also be a LEED Certified Green Building.

The overall strategy was to build a low impact, energy efficient and environmentally friendly facility that employees, as well as the Town and neighbors could be proud of. The results were beyond Fillpoints’ expectations. The additional up front costs of the systems and equipment will pay dividends over the life of the building. The valuable benefits are already being seen in operational cost savings.

The building design is simple, a 24,000 square feet rectangular building for the warehousing operations and a 6,000 square feet office space for the support staff. The offices face northeast and feature an impressive glass façade to welcome employees and visitors. The warehouse is 28 feet tall and is positioned north to south with the back of the building facing west. A loading dock and cardboard recycling area were added on the southern end of the building, furthest away from the entrances. There are two entrances, one for the office staff and one for the warehouse staff. The office space is 18 feet high and the all roof mounted HVAC systems are not visible from the ground.

The new state-of-the-art facility was completed in October of 2006 and in addition to integrating the latest technology it is now a LEED Certified Green Building with the U.S. Green Building Council.
