Dave Wilson, president of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), announced today the appointment of Randolph R. Rinehart, CAPS, CGB, as 2005 chair of the NAHB Seniors Housing Council (SHC).
In this role, Rinehart will provide leadership to the Seniors Housing Council, which serves NAHB members involved in seniors housing, the fastest-growing segment of the housing industry.
Rinehart was officially installed as chair during the 2005 International Builders’ Show in Orlando in January. “We are excited to have Randy on board to guide the Seniors Housing Council to the next level of service,” Wilson said. “Randy fully understands the importance of seniors housing and how vital it is to educate builders about how to better meet the housing needs of older consumers.” Rinehart is president of Rinehart Custom Homes, Ltd. of Charlottesville, Va. In recent years, Rinehart has begun to serve the 50+ market by installing universal design features in the custom homes he builds.
His company recently took home a gold medal in the 2004 Best of Seniors Housing Awards program in the Aging In Place, New Custom Home category. “The active adult and seniors market holds exciting possibilities for the housing industry,” Rinehart said. “As chairman, I am committed to helping the Seniors Housing Council provide resources to builders who serve this market niche and to educate the public and builders alike about key issues like universal design and aging in place. Builders can play a special role in constructing homes that consumers will enjoy their entire lives, regardless of age or ability.”
Rinehart is a Life Director of NAHB, a charter member of NAHB’s Builder 20 Clubs and a trustee of the Seniors Housing Council. A past president of the Home Builders Association of Virginia, Rinehart has been active in his local community, serving in organizations such as the Charlottesville Rotary Club, the United Way and the Central Virginia chapter of the American Red Cross.
