The Sportsmen's Lodge Event Center Celebrates Its Reopening
The Sportsmen's Lodge Event Center, a Los Angeles icon and a treasured site for memorable occasions, is spruced up and now open for business - celebrating its reopening on Friday, October 16 with its first gala affair, the Professional Dancers Society Fall Ball.
The property owner, Weintraub Financial Services Inc., has improved and enhanced the Event Center's interior and gardens to meet today's needs while retaining the historic charm that has made the venue a favored site for family celebrations and corporate events.
For more than six decades, Southern Californians have chosen the Event Center for their business meetings and conferences, social gatherings, religious celebrations, weddings and the other milestones in their lives. The Event Center has been the chosen venue for parties, receptions and other occasions for many celebrities and luminaries.
"As we experience an unprecedented economic crisis, I want to recognize and thank Richard Weintraub for his leadership, commitment and investment in our community," said Los Angeles City Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. "The Sportsmen's Lodge is a Los Angeles icon. It's reopening provides our residents a fantastic event venue and boosts our local business climate."
"The Sportsmen's Lodge Event Center is a beloved San Fernando Valley icon with a distinguished reputation and a bright future because of the investment Weintraub Financial Services and its president, Richard Weintraub, have made in it and in our community," said Wendy Greuel, Los Angeles' City Controller and former Los Angeles City Councilmember for Council District 2. "We thank Richard for updating this local treasure for future generations to enjoy."
The work crews upgraded and updated the interior of the Event Center with state-of-the art sound systems and lighting, new carpets, fresh paint and more. On the exterior, they refurbished the decks, walkways and ponds, and planted lush new landscaping. Throughout the property, the Event Center retains its distinctive design, but it now presents a sophistication appropriate for all types of special events and corporate meetings.
"As president of the Studio City Residents Association and on behalf of our members, I welcome the opening of the Event Center at Sportsmen's Lodge. It has many personal, historic, other associations and memories for us all," said Alan Dymond, president of the Studio City Residents Association. "We look forward to continuing and carrying forward the tradition of Sportsmen's Lodge as being a fixture and part of the Studio City community and thereby serving our community for the next 75 years."
The Sportsmen's Lodge Event Center features 10 meeting rooms, ranging from intimate settings for corporate meetings to elegant ballrooms that can accommodate up to 1,000. Most of the meeting rooms have built-in stages, bars and dance floors. Outside, three spacious decks, fish ponds and two gazebos are surrounded by lush landscaping.
"The Sportsmen's Lodge Event Center has always been one of the premier places for doing business in the San Fernando Valley, whether it was hosting a small meeting or a large conference," said Bruce Ackerman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Valley Economic Alliance. "Updating and improving the Event Center ensures it will continue to be a vital part of the business community in the Valley and throughout Los Angeles."
With the Event Center's reopening, the staff has updated its catering menus and is ready to provide its signature turn-key services for planning corporate meetings, conferences and celebrations.
"The Sportsmen's Lodge Event Center is better than ever and ready for business," said Richard Weintraub, president of Weintraub Financial Services Inc. "We recognized the special place it has in the hearts of those who celebrated some of the most important moments in their lives here, so we ensured the Event Center retained the features they loved while making improvements to meet the needs of today's corporate meetings and special events."
In the coming weeks, Weintraub Financial Services Inc., will also be working with local elected officials and community groups on a unique charitable giving program. Banquet facility supplies, including chairs, plateware, glassware, and business equipment, and certain memorabilia from the original Sportsmen's Lodge facility will be distributed and preserved in coordination with local stakeholder groups.
