4” and 6” Recessed Downlights, Low-Bay Lighting & Commercial Refrigeration
Future Lighting Solutions today announced the release of four comprehensive reference designs that will help lighting designers reduce the time and cost of developing LED-based luminaires in key market segments. The target applications – all leveraging LUXEON® Rebel LEDs - are 4” and 6” recessed downlights, low-bay lighting and commercial refrigeration lighting systems.
Reference design development by Future Lighting Solutions included extensive work to define ideal target performance specifications for each application to ensure that the designs meet the majority of customer needs in terms of light output, light uniformity, system efficacy, lifetime and cost.
Each reference design is supported with:
- A demonstration kit containing the fixture, accessories and documentation
- A detailed application note, downloadable at www.futurelightingsolutions.com/referencedesigns
- A SSL Designer online LED payback case study, available at www.futurelightingsolutions.com/ssldesigner
- Optical, power, thermal and FR-4 board layout design files, available on request
All LUXEON Rebel LEDs, power solutions, standard optics, heat sinks and connectors included in the reference designs are available at Future Lighting Solutions to enable the implementation of the LED-based luminaires for prototyping or volume production.
“Complete system solutions are necessary to accelerate the transition to solid state lighting in the general lighting market. That includes eliminating the need for lighting designers to constantly reinvent the wheel as well as providing a single source for all components,” said Patrick Durand, Future Lighting Solutions Worldwide Technical Director. “These reference designs are another significant step on both fronts.”
The reference designs were developed by a team of Future Lighting Solutions optical, thermal and electronics engineers as well as the company’s prototype design team. Proprietary Future Lighting Solutions development tools such as SSL Designer, Usable Light Tool, LED Reliability Tool and QLED Thermal Simulation Software were used to accelerate and refine the design efforts.
