Once again local Twin Cites home remodeling contractor Stio Roofing and Construction, LLC has teamed up with the ABC Television Show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to help a St. Paul family in their time of need.
Stio Roofing and Construction was part of the "EM:HE" construction team that built a home in 2007 for the Swenson-Lee family of Minnetonka, and was recently chosen again by the popular television program to be a part of the construction team for an upcoming episode. Stio Roofing and Construction will contribute its services as part of an intense one-week build of a new home that will change the life of a deserving Saint Paul family. "We are very proud and honored to have been selected for a second time by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to be a part of this experience and help another community member in their time of need," said Stio Roofing and Construction President and Owner CJ deStefano.
Today it was announced that the family selected by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for their next project is: Sandy Morris of St. Paul, MN. The show's design team, lead by Ty Pennington made the announcement official today at 12:00pm with their traditional "surprise/door knock" surprising the Morris family. St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman said, "We are grateful that a Saint Paul family has been selected to receive a new home, and while the Morris family will receive a life changing gift, ultimately the impact of this project is greater than one family and will benefit the entire community. We recognize the commitment that "EM:HE", the construction partners and the thousands of volunteers will make in this effort."
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is capturing the momentum of the Obama administration's focus on volunteerism, and will show that community service is cool again with a new "GET ON THE BUS" campaign. "EM:HE" for the first time ever will have famous celebrities and extraordinary volunteers GET ON THE BUS for the weeks of house-building during the season. The celebrity volunteer for this project will be "Good Morning America" weather anchor Sam Champion and the Muppets. Getting on the bus will allow America to get to know the celebrity volunteers in an entirely new way -- as a real person who wants to make a real difference.
CJ deStefano of Stio Roofing and Construction commented, "Our first experience with the Swenson-Lee family in 2007 was life changing for all of us at Stio Roofing and Construction. To be able to participate a second time and help another family's dreams come true has helped us realize our own dreams and we thank "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" for including Stio Roofing and Construction in their cause."
