Kingspan Insulated Roof Tile recently provided the perfect roofing solution for Melford Laboratory’s extended facilities. The system’s aesthetic appearance fulfilled the crucial planning requirements stipulated by the local Suffolk council and was one of the key factors in obtaining the go-ahead for the project.
The new 15m x 25m building houses a warehouse and packaging facility for the laboratories. The roof comprises 400 m of terracotta effect Kingspan Roof Tile.
Martin Richards, Manager of Support Services at Melford was planning supervisor on the project. He said: “The finished building looks excellent and its subtle, pantile effect fits perfectly with the architecture of the surrounding village. Its attractive appearance combines with practical elements such as its superb insulation qualities. The insulation proved invaluable during the build which took place during this summer’s heat-wave, protecting the project team from what otherwise would have proved to be an uncomfortably sticky project!”
Kingspan Roof Tile is a pre-engineered, steel faced insulated panel system with the external appearance of traditional, natural clay pantiles. Kingspan Roof Tile fits directly onto purlins, eliminating the need for battens, roof felt and separate insulation materials, saving valuable installation time. Its lightweight construction allows for substantial savings on structural support and its excellent insulation properties ensure 100% consistent thermal performance. Kingspan Roof Tile’s outstanding air leakage performance can also reduce heating costs by over 20%.
