The Belgian Deceuninck Group, a leading worldwide producer of PVC window systems and building profiles, has announced today that its German subsidiary Inoutic/Deceuninck GmbH has signed a five-year commercial agreement with the French Atrya Group. The agreement provides for the manufacture and supply of PVC window and door profiles – 3,000 tons of additional volume on an annual basis – to the Atrya Group from 1 January 2008. This partnership has limited effect on the recently announced restructuring plans for the Bogen site which is aimed at a durable development of the group’s competitive position in European markets.
“The Deceuninck Group confirms its trust in the German production site in Bogen with this commercial agreement,” says Clement De Meersman, Managing Director of the Deceuninck Group. The Atrya Group, which manufactured part of its own requirements until recently, has decided to halt this activity. Henceforth, the profiles for the window and door systems in question will be manufactured in Bogen.
“This agreement constitutes a win-win situation for both partners,” according to De Meersman. “In the case of the Atrya Group, it means that it will be able to fully concentrate on its core activity, i.e. the manufacture of PVC windows, doors and shutters. Deceuninck will supply all the required profiles and in so doing will strengthen the collaboration. With this partnership, Inoutic/Deceuninck demonstrates that it is doing everything possible to limit the announced job cuts in Bogen to the minimum,” added De Meersman. The additional volume will not fully compensate for the loss in production volume for the Bogen site. As a result the announced restructuring programme will be continued.
The success of the Atrya Group was assisted by Inoutic/Deceuninck GmbH. During the early years, Thyssen Polymer, as it was known at the time, was selected by the Atrya Group as the most important supplier for its window production in Gundershoffen (Alsace), France. Johannes Tryba founded the Atrya Group under the name Tryba in 1980. He initially focused on the production of windows, doors and shutters in PVC. Since then the group, which was renamed the Atrya Group in 2004, has become the fifth biggest manufacturer of PVC windows, doors and shutters in Europe. The group employs 1,500 people throughout Europe and achieved a turnover of 270 million euros in 2006. The company is mainly active in the French, German, Belgian, Swiss and Spanish markets.
