Entries for the Housing Corporations's 2008 Gold Award Competition

Entries to the Housing Corporation’s prestigious Gold Award for Excellence 2008 are invited from today when the exciting competition opens for its latest round.

Now in its third year, the popular competition for housing associations is back with three new themes:

  • Building Cohesive Communities
  • Tackling Worklessness
  • Delivering Joined-up Development

Sir Duncan Michael, Housing Corporation Board Member and Chair of the competition's judging panel said, “ The Gold Award is now a well established competition and a regular fixture on the housing calendar.

"The award gives the winning housing associations a major boost and we have been told by previous winners that it has opened up many doors.

"With three new exciting themes this year we are looking forward to even more housing associations taking up the challenge and entering the competition."

Each winning association will receive a cash boost of £50,000 to help fund their involvement in a nine month programme of knowledge sharing.

A record number of housing associations submitted bids to take part last year - 40% up on the first year of the competition. Winners of the 2007 competition received their awards at a ceremony in London in May and are currently embarking on a knowledge sharing programme.

The closing date for entries is Friday 30 November 2007.

The application form, along with comprehensive guidance notes, are now available.
