Integrated mirror and television

Phillips have announced the development of a mirror that has a television integrated into it. The Phillips Mirror TV allows someone to surf TV channels or the internet while brushing their teeth or styling their hair.

The TV part of the mirror is a special LCD screen coated with a film that allows almost all light through (when the TV is turned off), or none at all (when the TV section is on). It will be available with screen sizes from 17 inch up to 30-inches.

Phillips sees the Mirror TV first being used in hotels but believes it will quickly be adopted into homes. For this reason they are testing more advanced versions that come complete with Internet and TV connections, as well as being able to provide you with health data via wireless connections with healthcare devices such as your bathroom scales. Mirror TVs offering all of this should become available in 2005.
