UK Grid, the colocation and network provisioning company, recently appointed FibreSpan to provide a dark fibre link between its data centres in Manchester.
UK Grid provides customers with a fully resilient multi homed network and multiple connections to Tier-1 providers, which is fully scalable allowing customers to use the bandwidth they need, when they need it. The company peers with many other providers, creating a very low latency network which enables it to provide IP transit to sensitive applications.
UK Grid has diverse independent Manchester IP transit feeds that offers resilient connections in any of its POP sites. The recent FibreSpan deployment has enabled them to enhance diversity into its Manchester data centres. As the client required an unrestricted and scalable network, dark fibre was identified as the preferred option.
"This contract signing reflects the increasing demand for high bandwidth connectivity and resilient network services," said Robert Bicket, CEO of FibreSpan. "Trust is an important factor - FibreSpan has built its reputation as a quality yet affordable player across niche markets in the UK since the company was founded over five years ago".
