Concrete Society awards winners announced

The Concrete Society’s prestigious annual awards have been announced.

The Overall Winner in the Society’s 2003 Awards for Outstanding Structures was the Manchester Art Gallery. The new galleries exhibit was constructed from exposed precast column and roof soffits with an outstanding quality of finish. The judges were drawn to the exquisite shape and detail of the vaulted roofs and the colour of the concrete chosen to achieve the necessary light level.

Winner of the Buildings category was the SAS Institute: Upper Whittington, Bucks. The Civil Engineering winner was the New Medway Bridge, near Rochester, Kent. Winner of the Mature Structures category was, Carlsberg-Tetley Brewery, Northhampton.
