Construction boom driven by new home demands

Last month the UK construction sector grew at its fastest rate for two years with demand for new homes showing no signs of slowing. The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply's (CIPS) purchasing managers' index showed that the sector expanded for the 57th consecutive month.

Commercial construction activity also increased sharply in October.
