UK Developer Pushes for Amended S106

The London Borough of Wandsworth has confirmed that the developers behind plans to turn Battersea Power Station into an upmarket leisure, shopping and housing complex want to vary the section 106 agreement for the scheme.

This precludes other associated development adjacent to the power station going ahead until the redevelopment of the Grade II listed structure is "complete".

Parkview, the developers, want to activate a planning permission it already has for a 750-unit residential scheme on land close to the power plant, an iconic London landmark.

A spokesman for Parkview claimed the company would not leave the building as a shell but get it ready for tenant fit-out, a move involving the installation of new floors and the provision of a roof over the turbine hall.

The borough council will consider this variation and clarification of the s106 in November.
