Norwegian design and architecture will be presented at the exhibition "100% Norway 2006", which constitutes a part of London Design Week from 21 September to 1 October. Among the exhibits is the Løvetann house, created by the architecture firm Snøhetta, and using aluminium profiles from Hydro.
Hydro will be one of the main sponsors of the Norwegian event, in cooperation with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in London, Innovation Norway, the Norwegian Design Council, the website InsideNorway.no, and the design magazine Blueprint.
"100% Norway 2006" will be opened by Crown Princess Mette-Marit. The actual exhibition is to be held in the converted brewery building in Brick Lane in London's East End, with the address U-Block, Old Truman Brewery, 146 Brick Lane, E1 6QL. There is free admission.
The Norwegian exhibition will centre around the Løvetann house, by the world-famous architecture firm Snøhetta, which has its British debut during London Design Week. Visitors will be able to view the house both from inside and outside.
In their work to create the Løvetann house, the Snøhetta architects have striven to create an abode that is both functional and comfortable, thanks to flexible and practical aluminium building systems from Hydro.
Altogether, almost 80 Norwegian exhibitors will take part in London Design Week. Both promising newcomers and established designers and architects are represented, within furniture, fashion and textiles.
