Wembley Stadium Site Scanned For Bombs

Due to fears that terrorists could place radio activated bombs in unfinished buildings and set them off months or even years later, The Metropolitan Police have inspected the Wembley Stadium construction site in north-west London to ensure that no explosive devices have been hidden in the foundations.

Wembley Stadium has a very high profile that would make it attractive to terrorists looking to detonate a bomb during a major sporting event. The police checked a variety of areas where a bomb could be hidden from duct work and voids to the foundations themselves.
