Construction Commences on 61-Unit Lodge for Seniors in Cold Lake

The Governments of Canada and Alberta, along with community partners, are celebrating the ground breaking of a 61-unit lodge for seniors in Cold Lake. The new lodge will replace the existing building and provide more affordable housing options for seniors in the area.

The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), along with the Honourable Lori Sigurdson, Minister of Seniors and Housing, made the announcement today.

  • The Governments of Canada and Alberta contributed more than $5.7 million to the project though the Investment in Affordable Housing Agreement.
  • The Province also contributed some $8.7 million through the Alberta Social Housing Corporation surplus earnings.
  • The 61-unit lodge will replace the existing 58-unit building. Residents will enjoy larger rooms, full in-suite washrooms and be protected by modern fire and safety systems.
  • The Lakeland Lodge and Housing Foundation is the management body for the Cold Lake Lodge.
