Green Builder Readers Choose Andersen as Greenest Window and Door Brand for Fifth Consecutive Year

For the fifth consecutive year of its Reader’s Choice awards, Green Builder Media readers ranked Andersen® windows and doors as the greenest brand among window and door manufacturers in North America.

Of the readers surveyed, 26.4% named Andersen as the company to offer the greenest window and door products. The survey can be viewed here: http://www.greenbuildermedia.com/2016-readers-choice-awards

“Corporate Citizenship – environmental stewardship and commitment to our communities - is one of our core values,” said Sal Abbate, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Andersen Corporation. “We are deeply proud of the millions of energy-efficient windows and doors we manufacture each year and are equally proud that our products help homeowners achieve their own sustainability goals.”

In 2015, Andersen was one of the first major building product manufacturers to sign the Ceres Climate Declaration. The Climate Declaration works to accelerate the adoption of sustainable business practices to build a healthy global economy. The company also unveiled new operational goals to reduce solid waste, energy and water use by 20 percent per unit of production by 2020, using 2013 as a baseline.

Andersen continues to donate windows to green projects and also announced a new product offering advancing us along our sustainability journey:

  • Andersen partnered with the National Park Service to build the first LEED Platinum building located at Yellowstone National Park. Andersen donated the windows for this new employee residence located near Old Faithful.
  • Andersen donated windows and funding to an 18-home net-zero, Habitat for Humanity community built in River Falls, Wisconsin. This is the largest net-zero affordable housing development in the U.S. Each home was designed and built to achieve net-zero energy performance, lowering the cost of home ownership for the families living there.
  • Andersen’s new triple pane glass with A-Series windows has options that are ENERGY STAR® 6.0 certified for climate zones in both U.S. and Canada. Select A-Series window models with triple-pane glass are recognized as ENERGY STAR Most Efficient in 2015.
  • Andersen led the fenestration industry as the company released the industry’s first Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

“Sustainability has been in our nature since our founding in 1903,” said Abbate. “We continually look for new ways to improve our products, reduce our overall environmental footprint and improve the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit.”
