IBEX Construction, a New York-based firm specializing in high-end retail and corporate construction, has completed the first flagship boutique for luxury and upscale men’s footwear brand Louis Leeman, located at 793 Madison Avenue at the corner of 67th Street in Manhattan.
Based in Florence with shoes handmade in Tuscany, Louis Leeman opened its new 927-square-foot location on the Upper East Side, in the mecca of Manhattan’s exclusive Madison Avenue shopping scene.
The luxe brand was launched in 2012 by Dutch tailor Louis Leeman and Italian stylist Erica Pelosi and is now one of the boldest labels in the business, using exotic skins, metal accessories, special embroideries and top-quality fabric to create its “classic yet zesty” style for men’s footwear.
The new retail space is modeled to resemble a classic Parisian home with a modern vision, featuring an antique marble fireplace, contemporary couches with lavish velvet cushions and various custom interior designs that create an ambiance of sophisticated elegance.
IBEX provided construction management services for the flagship location, which also features Barrisol ceilings, 300-year-old reclaimed wood flooring, and Nepalese hand-knitted carpet. The brand’s timeless yet modern shoes are displayed on simple brushed gold mounts, surrounded by art deco paneled walls.
The boutique also offers custom shoemaking services by an on-site cobbler that caters to individual needs.
“Louis Leeman’s distinct footwear caters to fashion-conscious men around the world while also garnering a strong celebrity following, so we’ve built their new flagship boutique to reflect the elegant style and upscale quality that represents the brand,” said Andy Frankl, president of IBEX Construction. “The IBEX team is dedicated to delivering a keen sense of aesthetics and fine craftsmanship and we are pleased to be the construction company of choice for exclusive, high-end retail and renovation projects, including this milestone opening for Louis Leeman.”
London-based architect and design firm David Collins Studio designed the new store, with furniture inspired by the canon of mid-20th century design. Nathan Orsman of Southampton, NY based Orsman Design, served as the project’s lighting design consultant.
“We are thrilled to be expanding and opening our first flagship on Madison Avenue, a street that is synonymous with luxury shopping,” said Louis Leeman. “IBEX Construction was instrumental in helping us achieve our vision for the store that also mirrors our own design concept – classic and elegant, yet modern. We want our customers to have a special and unique experience while they shop.”
