MIRA Breaks Ground for Hotel San Cristobal in Tres Santos

Real estate investment and development platform MIRA, founded by Denver-based Black Creek Group, announces the groundbreaking of Hotel San Cristobal, a 32-key boutique beachfront hotel in Tres Santos, a new community in Baja California designed around mindful living.

Austin-based hospitality design and management company Bunkhouse, led by visionary hotelier Liz Lambert, will oversee the interior design and hotel operations for the hotel, which will be located in Todos Santos, Mexico, a charming coastal fishing village and beach town located 45 minutes north of Cabo San Lucas.

“Tres Santos’ commitment to cherishing Todos Santos and respecting mindful development is our priority,” said Jim Mulvihill, Founding Partner, Black Creek Group. “By bringing on Bunkhouse, we are continuing to fulfill our promise to maintain the incredible charm and integrity of this Pueblo Mágico.”

Hotel San Cristobal, anticipated to open in May 2016, will be situated in Beach, one of Tres Santos’ two pedestrian-friendly intimate villages. Design for the hotel, which will be complete with a pool and restaurant, will be inspired by local influences that reflect the area’s heritage.

“We’re excited to be doing a hotel at the beach in Mexico, and to be working with such a great group of partners like MIRA, Chip Conley, Robert McKinley and others. The natural and cultural beauty of Todos Santos inspires this connection to the land and sense of peace that is hard to explain. It’s been fun to design a hotel that reflects and enhances that inspiration in a meaningful way," said Liz Lambert, Bunkhouse’s Founder, Chief Creative Officer.

Hotel San Cristobal marks Bunkhouse’s first international hotel, after having worked on several Texas properties including Hotel San José and Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin; Hotel Havana in San Antonio and El Cosmico in Marfa.

In addition to Hotel San Cristobal, Tres Santos will be home to private residences starting in the low $200,000s to over $1 million, an organic community garden, farm-to-table restaurant, private beach club, Colorado State University’s first international research and education center, and a public town-to-beach trail, among other unique experiences.
