The new hospital will be an extension of Queen Silvia’s Children’s Hospital, which is part of Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The older premises will also be refurbished and linked to the new hospital.
NCC’s assignment includes constructing the hospital building and connections to the existing hospital and creating an attractive site environment in the area.
The project has very high environmental ambitions.
“We are striving to achieve a Gold environmental rating from Sweden Green Building Council, which is the highest classification and demonstrates the building’s environmental performance with respect to energy, indoor environment and material,” says Svante Hagman, Business Area Manager for NCC Construction Sweden.
With the new children’s hospital, Gothenburg will have one of the world’s foremost children’s hospitals in highly specialized children care, clinical research and training.
“The new building will contain premises for rehabilitation, operation, intensive care, nursing wards and administration. The nursing wards will offer improved care environment for patients, close relations and personnel,” says Johannes Hellsing, Lead Project Manager of Västfastigheter.
Having single rooms will also be better for parents and provide the opportunity for overnighting. The single rooms will contribute to better hospital hygiene with less risk of spreading infections.
The land and preparatory work will commence in spring 2015 and occupancy will occur successively from 2018 to 2020.
NCC and Västfastigheter will run the project in collaboration, with the first phases including preparing the organization, project planning, construction documents and pricing of the project. The order value is estimated at approximately SEK 850 million. Agreements will be signed successively and the main contract agreement is scheduled to be signed in autumn 2015. The order is estimated to be registered during the third quarter will be registered in the NCC Construction Sweden business area.
