An environmental charity today published advice on how to save energy.
The Environment Charity has produced ten tips to help people cut energy costs, at a time when gas prices in the UK appear to be increasing.
The advice includes using low energy light bulbs, keeping the fridge in a cool place, taking a shower rather than a bath and drawing the curtains in the evening.
According to the London-based group, three-quarters of financially vulnerable people are not aware of the steps they can take to save energy in the home.
As Environment Trust chief executive Jon Aldento points out, "the tips don't cost anything to use and are all straightforwardly practical".
"We're asking everybody to save money and reduce energy consumption for the benefit of the environment and themselves," he said to Community Newswire.
Other tips include using smaller pans with lids, not overfilling kettles and switching off televisions at night.
The Environment Trust was set up in 1979 in order "to promote environmental improvement" and is based in east London.
