Lavallee Brensinger Architects' IDEXX Synergy Center has been named Number 4 in Interiors & Sources "Beyond LEED: Our Top 10 Projects for 2014." The list identifies international work that goes above and beyond sustainability, focusing on what the magazine calls "the triple bottom line": people, planet, and profit.
IDEXX's 750,000 square foot headquarters includes office and laboratory space as well as a food court and wellness center. With over 2,100 employees on-site daily, achieving a sustainable LEED® Gold Certification was no small task. The new headquarters makes extensive use of daylighting, green roofs, and recycled and low-toxin materials, enabling a design that is sensitive to both planet and profit.
These features also extend to the experience of the people. Glass-covered walkways and atriums give way to beautifully landscaped courtyards and scenic Maine views, articulating IDEXX's belief in the connection between healthy environments and employee wellness. Interior palettes, designed by Stibler Associates, pull from bright, rich tones intended to further the sense of warmth and energy within the space.
