Goodman Group (Goodman or Group), the global integrated property group which owns, develops and manages industrial space, is pleased to announce that it has secured a brownfield site in the Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technology Development Zone, with the site to be named Goodman Nanjing Airport Logistics Centre.
Goodman has simultaneously signed a second agreement with Best Logistics to develop a 76,400 sqm built-to-suit facility, comprised of two warehouses and a separate amenity centre.
Located in Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technology Development Zone, Goodman Nanjing Airport Logistics Centre is in close proximity to downtown Nanjing with convenient access to the airport express highway, Nanjing South Railway Station and the planned Kukou Newtown MTR Station. The existing property on the site will be refurbished and expanded to approximately 52,000 sqm, while a new warehouse and amenity centre with a combined total of 24,000 sqm will be developed. The entire development of 76,400 sqm will be leased to Best Logistics for a term of 10 years. The construction of the built-to-suit facility is scheduled to commence in November 2014, with an expected completion date of October 2015.
Best Logistics is a leading integrated logistics and supply chain management services provider in China and is a customer at Goodman Chongqing Airport Logistics Park, where they have pre-committed to a new 22,000 sqm facility, which is currently being developed as their regional integrated logistics centre for Western China.
The agreement signed by Best Logistics at Goodman Nanjing Airport Logistics Centre supports the rapid expansion of the customer's business and enhances its integrated logistics service offering in the region through the consolidation of its e-commerce,transportation and express delivery business into one location. This will not only significantly lower operating costs and enhance the management efficiency of Best Logistics, but also enables Goodman to maximise the use of its land and properties to achieve mutual benefits.
Philip Pearce, Managing Director Greater China for Goodman, said, "We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with Best Logistics with the signing of this agreement. This is a testament to the quality of our projects, our proven capability and our ability to provide the best warehousing solutions to customers to support their changing business needs."
Mr Pearce added, "We continue to see strong demand for prime logistics space in Eastern China, where there is a limited supply of industrial land. Backed by our extensive resources, access to capital and a significant land bank, we are well positioned to further expand our footprint in this region."
Mr Johnny Chou, President for Best Logistics, said, "We used to rent separate facilities at different locations for our e-commerce, transportation services and express delivery operations due to differences in their warehousing specifications. With the rapid expansion of our business, we need to look for an integrated facility compatible with our three operations. It is therefore encouraging to see that our cooperation with Goodman has resulted in an integrated built-to-suit facility, which can meet the needs of our three major businesses. We look forward to cooperating with Goodman in other cities in the near future."
