Turning Building Sites Into Art Galleries

CIOB is reporting that since March last year, building sites across Liverpool city centre have been transformed in a novel project which has seen unsightly areas turned into massive art galleries.

Second year students from Liverpool John Moores University are currently showcasing their artwork at the Milligan ‘Met Quarter’ development on the site of the city’s old Post Office.

The artwork which is almost 150 metres across was unveiled today as part of the Look of the City project. The project has not only enhanced the image of the city’s regeneration sites but has also caused a significant reduction in fly-posting according to Liverpool City Council.

Council Leader Warren Bradley said: "This project has proved to be a great success so far and we are delighted to be giving more of these enthusiastic young artists a chance to show off their immense talents.

"Until Liverpool's transformation is complete, the displaying of the banners also helps to create a more attractive face for people living and working in the city."

The 'Met Quarter' is scheduled to open in March next year, and will house several high-profile commercial tenants.
