The doorway of your dreams unfolds right before your eyes with JELD-WEN’s latest door system.
Representing an entirely new concept in exterior doors from the world’s leading manufacturer of reliable windows and doors, the JELD-WEN® IWP® folding door system is one of the company’s biggest product announcements of 2006.
Unveiled for the first time in the United States at the International Builders’ Show (IBS), this system combines the style, customization opportunities and elegance of a classic French door, with the updated benefits and features of a sliding door. The growing trend toward outdoor living and bringing the outside in is the inspiration behind JELD-WEN’s folding door system.
JELD-WEN believes this door will be especially popular with homeowners who are increasingly interested in creating outdoor living spaces and want a direct connection to their yards and gardens. The door system operates “accordion style” – the door sections slide on an overhead track and fold up neatly against one another to allow for full access to the indoors or outdoors.
With a maximum width of up to 54 feet and available heights of up to 13 feet, this door system provides tremendous light and outdoor viewing opportunities, even when closed. The IWP folding door system is different than anything else on the market, given the fact that it is available in both wood and JELD-WEN’s award-winning IWP® AuroraTM Custom Fiberglass. It is virtually impossible to tell IWP Aurora from a real wood door, yet because these doors are made from fiberglass, they are exceptionally low-maintenance.
Both wood and fiberglass options are available in a wide variety of finishes and styles.
“This beautiful door is perfect for traditional, as well as contemporary homes – anywhere you want free-flowing access from inside to out,” said Shane Meisel, product marketing manager for JELD-WEN doors. “It’s a great combination of bold style that makes a dramatic statement, yet it is also highly functional.”
The new door system is truly customizable, allowing for numerous configurations. Sizes range from two doors to up to 18 three-foot doors (54 feet wide) and coordinating frame widths. Special-order options include door heights of up to 13 feet. The complete folding system, including doors, hardware and the overhead track, will be available in late January from JELD-WEN.
Originally created and manufactured in Australia and also distributed in Great Britain, JELD-WEN’s folding door system has been designed to keep cold, wet weather at bay. The door panels come either stained, painted or primed with energy efficient, Low-E glass as an option. For security, it features key lockable drop bolts, a night latch and mortise lock or a hook latch, depending on the configuration style.
