JELD-WEN Introduces Wood Screens For Custom Casement Windows

In keeping with its commitment to offer the finest building materials down to the smallest detail, JELD-WEN, the world’s leading manufacturer of reliable windows and doors, has introduced new wood screens for Custom Wood casement windows.

All JELD-WEN® Custom Wood windows benefit from handcraftsmanship and attention to detail. The addition of wood screens that blend smoothly with the profiles of custom casement windows, including radius-style, is yet another example of JELD-WEN’s commitment to craftsmanship throughout its window offerings.

“Builders and homeowners crave the warmth and beauty of real wood and view this as a highly desirable amenity,” said Joyce Richter, JELD-WEN windows communications manager. “Research shows that homeowners are even willing to sacrifice square footage for high-quality materials in their homes.”

The benefits of JELD-WEN’s new wood screens for Custom Wood casement windows include:

  • Ability to match wood species:
The new screens are available in four popular species, allowing builders and homeowners to match wood finishes with JELD-WEN Custom Wood windows. Available wood species are ponderosa pine, vertical-grain Douglas fir, mahogany and Pacific Coast red alder.
  • High-quality screen material:
Both wood and aluminum window screens are made of durable charcoal fiberglass screen cloth with an 18 x 16 mesh that resists denting. Easy retrofitting of aluminum screens: The aluminum and wood screens are designed to be interchangeable and can easily be removed. If homeowners decide to upgrade later, it’s just an easy switch.
  • Industry studies show that a “jewel-box” syndrome is developing among builders and homeowners, who increasingly face the realities of shrinking lot sizes and place a premium on quality materials. A recent survey by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) indicates that today’s homeowner would overwhelmingly choose a smaller home with high-quality products and amenities (63 percent) over a larger house with fewer amenities (37 percent).

“Matching wood screens on casement windows is just the kind of architectural detail that builders and homeowners are seeking to add both value and style to their investments,” Richter said.
