Royal Building Products Sponsors Habitat for Humanity’s Home Builders Blitz

Royal Building Products is joining building industry professionals in 35 states and more than 80 communities across the U.S. as a sponsor of Habitat for Humanity’s Home Builders Blitz to build, renovate and repair more than 250 homes.

Royal Building Products is donating its Royal® Woodland siding for 49 homes in support of nine Habitat affiliates participating in the build. Each homeowner will be choosing the color and profile of siding that they want on their home, and Royal’s distribution partners in the nine markets will facilitate the specific product request.

“Royal Building Products has a long history supporting the communities where we operate,” said Simon Bates, vice president and general manager of Exteriors, Trim and Distribution for Royal Building Products. “We are proud to participate in Habitat’s Home Builders Blitz to contribute high-quality, durable and sustainable siding that will minimize the time and expense these families will need to spend maintaining the exterior of their homes.”

Home Builders Blitz 2014 is a partnership between Habitat for Humanity and the building industry to build homes across the nation. Builders and Habitat affiliates work closely to organize all aspects of building, including securing subcontractors and suppliers, fundraising and seeking donations of materials. Builders participating in the program this year will work with more than 80 Habitat affiliates.

After helping launch the event from Jacksonville, Florida, Steve Thomas -- Emmy Award-winning former host of “This Old House” and “Renovation Nation” -- will travel to Habitat’s Home Builders Blitz work sites raise awareness of the event and discuss how building professionals are taking an active role in addressing the need for affordable housing in their communities.

Habitat launched its first week-long national Home Builders Blitz in 2006, four years after Habitat for Humanity Wake County in North Carolina and local builder Tom Gipson recruited 12 home builders to donate their time to each build a house in five days. Since then, professional builders have participated in similar events in 2008 and 2012. To date, more than 1,000 homes have been built, renovated or repaired under the initiative.
