Bechtel has recognized 19 companies for outstanding work on government projects with the annual Bechtel Systems and Infrastructure Subcontractor and Supplier Recognition Awards.
The awards honor subcontractors and suppliers that supported Bechtel's government services business unit in work such as environmental cleanup, national security science, construction, facility startup, and nuclear security and operations during 2013.
The recipients of the top awards are:
- Subcontractor of the Year – Performance Contracting, Inc. of Lenexa, Kansas
- Supplier of the Year – Faith Technologies, Inc. of Menasha, Wisconsin
- Small Business of the Year – Dominion Engineering, Inc. of Reston, Virginia
"Our subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers help strengthen the critical work we do through performance, value, and innovation," said Craig Albert, president of Bechtel's government services business unit. "These awards recognize those who met our high standards for quality and who went above and beyond for mission delivery."
Bechtel is committed to partnering with small businesses, suppliers, and subcontractors to provide the highest quality and promote the best in sustainability while working together to complete our missions. These partnerships spur economic development in the communities where our employees live and work and help sustain the skills needed for future work.
Companies were evaluated on overall performance and other factors. They include the ability to deliver quality services or supplies on time, work collaboratively to meet milestones, and meet or exceed project expectations in safety, construction performance, technical expertise, environmental compliance, and cost. Nominations were reviewed and approved by Bechtel procurement managers and project managers. Final recommendations were approved by Bechtel's senior leadership.
Bechtel's government services business unit is a leading provider to U.S. and other governments. Successful work includes many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, construction, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national security. Bechtel comanages Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration, manages construction of two plants to disassemble and destroy surplus chemical weapons for the Department of Defense, and manages and operates the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site in the Marshall Islands, also for the Department of Defense, among other projects.
