YIT’s First LEED Platinum Certification Awarded to Avia Line 3 Office Building

The Avia Line 3 office building located in Vantaa’s Aviapolis has been awarded LEED Platinum environmental certification. This is YIT’s first LEED Platinum certification. There are only about ten properties in all of Finland that have been awarded LEED Platinum certification.

Avia Line 3 was designed according to the principles of sustainable development, resulting in an environmentally efficient and user-friendly solution. The energy class A office building was completed in 2013 and its floor area is approximately 3,300 m². The tenants of Avia Line 3 include Fastems Oy, LVI-Dahl Oy and Intelle Innovations Oy, among others.

Avia Line 3 is unique particularly with respect to its energy efficiency solutions and the efficiency of water use, which achieved all of the environmental objectives set. Part of the building’s energy consumption is covered by solar energy collected via photovoltaic panels. The factors behind the building being awarded LEED Platinum environmental certification also included advanced indoor air solutions, water fixtures that reduce water consumption, and the property’s location in an urban area with comprehensive services and transport links. YIT’s consulting partner in the LEED certification process was Pöyry Finland Oy.

“LEED Platinum certification is testament to Avia Line 3 meeting the highest efficiency standards for ecological construction. We are pleased to be able to offer our customers a pleasant and high-quality working environment that satisfies the most demanding requirements for environmental responsibility,” says Vice President Matti Sarikkola from YIT.
