MiTek Industries, a Berkshire Hathaway company, and the world’s leading supplier of proprietary software for the residential construction markets and advanced engineered structural connector systems, equipment, and services for the building components industry, announced today that The Mungo Company (Mungo Homes) has recently deployed MiTek’s suite of workflow software designed for production builders, SAPPHIRE™ Build.
Based in South Carolina, Mungo Homes is the 37th largest home builder in the U.S., according to Builder magazine’s Builder 100. In 2013, Mungo Homes started more than 1,000 housing units.
After a thorough review of workflow software alternatives, Mungo Homes found that only the SAPPHIRE Build suite offered complete integration for all operational processes, from lead prospecting to warranty/customer service.
“SAPPHIRE Build allows our company to bring together all functions – from sales, production, and service – in a seamless system that is configurable to fit our specific company needs,” said Mike Lowman, Mungo Homes’ Program Manager. “The features and configuration provided by SAPPHIRE Build’s solution finally lets us pursue our vision without being limited or defined by the technology. We found no other software that delivers such a range of functional features while also offering this high degree of configuration.”
The adoption of SAPPHIRE Build by Mungo Homes is driven by the Company’s focus on achieving measurable performance improvement. “By eliminating the current fragmentation of our multiple software systems and processes, we expect to reduce the man hours needed to maintain our current operations,” Lowman added. “As a result of the improved purchasing and scheduling capability that SAPPHIRE Build offers, we also expect to realize reduced cycle times and cost variances on the production of our homes. SAPPHIRE Build’s document repository and website integration will allow Mungo Homes to consolidate many systems into a single source of all data to be used to operate our company more efficiently.”
The adoption of SAPPHIRE Build by Mungo Homes follows the 2013 adoption of SAPPHIRE Build by Hayden Homes, another Top 100 builder, with 850 starts in 2013. These are just two of several Top-100 builders that have adopted SAPPHIRE Build. This is indicative of the current trend among production builders to implement high-performance workflow and documentation systems that are specifically designed to increase their operational efficiency and productive capacity in a steadily growing housing market.
