Milton Keynes Partnership (MKP) yesterday launched a two month consultation to gather views from members of the public on the development of the city until 2031.
Six different growth options have been proposed and are now available for consideration. The options accommodate different levels of development within the existing city limits. By concentrating more housing growth within the city some of the older estates would benefit from new investment and improved community facilities and less development would be needed outside the existing city boundaries. The options also show how Milton Keynes might grow by developing the city out to the south-east and the south-west.
One proposal suggests developing east of the M1 motorway. This development would need to be supported by a full range of local facilities, new neighbourhood centres, public open space and improved access to public transport.
The options can be viewed and discussed in full at a series of public exhibitions this week and next.
