Construction has reached a milestone for North Shore Place, Senior Lifestyle's newest premier assisted living and memory care community, as the construction crew completes the building's structure.
Senior Lifestyle and Skender Construction Company hosted a "topping out" ceremony and luncheon Friday, August 23, for its construction team as they finished pouring the roof of the five-story building. Chicago-based Skender is the lead contractor on the project, which began construction in February 2013. North Shore Place is scheduled to open for occupancy in summer 2014.
"This is a significant moment for North Shore Place. Now, people will really start to see what the finished product will look like," Senior Lifestyle Vice President of Development & Acquisitions Bob Gawronski says. "Friday's event is our way of saying thank you to the construction crew and village officials who have made this possible."
With 156 luxurious apartment-style units on 7.2 acres, North Shore Place will offer retirement housing with state-of-the-art assisted living and memory care services in the heart of the North Shore. The community is conveniently located on Sunset Ridge Road, off of Skokie Boulevard and just south of Dundee Road. North Shore Place features large private one- and two-bedroom apartments with high-end finishes, such as granite countertops; stainless steel appliances; full kitchens; in-unit washers and dryers; and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property.
Senior Lifestyle is drawing on nearly three decades of senior housing experience to design a community equipped to meet residents' evolving needs. The second floor will be devoted to memory care, with amenities and secure outdoor spaces that will allow residents with Alzheimer's or other forms of age-related dementia to thrive. North Shore Place will offer a variety of programs, as well as personalized care plans, medication management, 24/7 licensed nursing staff, and formal and casual dining options.
"When all is said and done, this will be one of the signature communities in our portfolio, commensurate with the high quality that Chicago's North Shore expects," Gawronski says. "It will look and feel like a hybrid of condos and independent living, but will be licensed to provide the quality care our residents need."
