The InsideIQ Building Automation Alliance, an international alliance of independent building automation contractors, presented its solutions for advanced building technology, energy savings and security at the Realcomm/Intelligent Buildings Conference (IBcon) 2013.
The event, held in Orlando, Fla., June 11- 13, 2013, brings industry leaders together each year to focus on the latest technological innovations in building management. While at IBcon, InsideIQ announced a partnership with cybersecurity provider Cylance that allows the group to offer high level BAS security practices, training and certification for its customers.
"Long time InsideIQ member McKenney's, Inc. partnered with Cylance to bring to market an advanced understanding of physical, social and cyber threats to buildings and campus facilities," said Mark Balent, president of the InsideIQ Building Automation Alliance. "The Cylance cybersecurity solution ensures that essentially all elements of a building—from automated ID cards to doors, lights, thermostats, HVAC and elevators—will be protected. Through the collaboration of the InsideIQ Alliance, our member firms will be able to make this offering available to customers across the country."
InsideIQ firms represented at the event included Alpha Controls & Service, Rockford, Ill.; CM3 Building Solutions, Inc., Fort Washington, Pa.; Environmental Systems, Inc. (ESI), Brookfield, Wis.; LONG Building Technologies, Littleton, Colo.; MC2, Inc., Orlando, Fla.; and McKenney's, Inc., Atlanta, Ga.
Balent congratulated member firm ESI on having a significant presence at the Realcomm/IBConn event. "ESI's booth showcased their solutions and ESI speakers participated in six panel discussions with topics including analytics and visualization, system integration, facility operations, and security," he said. "As part of IBCon's Conference Live interview program, Paul Oswald, president of ESI, discussed the keys to implementing an energy efficient building."
In addition, three ESI projects, including ESI's own headquarters, were among 25 smart buildings highlighted in an Intelligent Building Showcase. Finally, the Digie Awards, presented annually to people and companies advancing intelligent buildings, recognized an ESI project as the Best Intelligent Building in the retail category and Oswald won the Digital Impact award for his leadership in promoting smart buildings.
"InsideIQ made an impact at Realcomm/IBcon because our firms that attended, like all of our 49 members, are committed to using innovative technology that reduces customer risk and increases value," said Balent.
