The second meeting of Energy Efficient Buildings and Communities (EEBC) Group was held between the 10-11th of June 2013 at EPFL, under the chairmanship of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Performance-Integrated Design (LIPID).

The EEBC is a research project initiated by the EuroTech Universities Alliance, which is committed to finding technical solutions to the grand challenges of society and brings together four leading European technical universities:

  • Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)
  • Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e)
  • École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)
  • Technische Universität München (TUM)

LIPID hosted 33 participants from the three Eurotech Universities. Professors presented their Eurotech research vision and discussed a future road map in relation to the EU 2020 Horizon. Out of the 41 participants 33 PhD students presented their research topics in the areas of Building Energy Performance, Building Indoor Environment and Building Components & Technologies. The meeting involved intensive synergetic discussions related to the potential cooperation opportunities among participants, future summer school, common barriers and obstacles facing the EEBC group. There were ideas to share datasets, experiment results, facilities and collaborate on methodological level.
