Hull City Council has announced the launch of its the Affordable Warmth Strategy for 2005-2008.
The Affordable Warmth Strategy is a collaboration between local and national organisations and it outlines priorities and actions "to deliver affordable warmth to residents of Hull".
A host of organisations, including Hull City Council, Hull Warm Zone, Age Concern, the Health Authority, the Pension Service, National Energy Action and npower have banded together to ensure that local people are warm during the winter.
The strategy aims to cement the commitment of all stakeholders to the initiative and continue the progress made to date. All local partners have been working to make homes in Hull warm and affordable to heat and new plans include providing information for all residents outlining ways in which fuel bills can be reduced.
"This is a strategy produced for Hull by a wide range of organisations who are committed to working in partnership to ensure that we can enable residents in Hull to have warm homes which they can afford to heat," Angela Dearing, private housing manager, commented.
John Bell, director of Hull Warm Zone, added: "Although Hull Warm Zone and its partners have undoubtedly made a significant difference to thousands of Hull householders, cold damp homes are still a serious problem in our city. This strategy represents a real opportunity for all partners to tackle this problem."
