YIT Germany, specialist in building technology and facility services, will be in charge of the sanitation at Dreischeibenhaus in Düsseldorf. In collaboration with the Cologne-based electric company Oertel & Prümm GmbH & Co. KG, YIT will be responsible for the sanitation, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, fire extinguishing, and material handling systems.
With YIT’s contribution, the building (gross floor area of 35,000 m2) is being renovated in line with high office quality standards and equipped with cutting-edge building technology and systems in an effort to achieve LEED Gold certification. Built in 1960, Dreischeibenhaus consists of three thin segments in a row. A comprehensive sanitation system will contribute to upholding the value and significance of the building for the city of Düsseldorf.
To provide the office space of the 29-story building with air conditioning, YIT will install some 1,700 fan coils between the structural and false ceilings. These will be supplied with conditioned fresh air by 48 decentralized ventilation devices on various levels for a total airflow volume of 170,000 m3/h. The primary aim is to ensure energy-efficient and sustainable measures and minimize operating costs through reduced power and water consumption. The company will also be installing a high-pressure fog extinguishing system in the public areas of the building.
Based in Munich, YIT has many years of building technology experience in the construction and renovation of high-rises and administrative buildings as well as extensive knowledge in the certification of new and existing buildings. For example, the company helped THE SQUAIRE at Frankfurt Airport obtain LEED Gold certification for Core & Shell by playing a significant role in the installation of all the building technology systems.
