Mark-Taylor Begins Construction on 384-Unit Luxury Apartment Community in Tempe

Mark-Taylor recently began construction on a 384-unit luxury apartment community at the apex of the East Valley's burgeoning transportation and high-tech corridor that will change the face of multifamily living in the area with a resort-style environment and upscale finishes typically found in new custom homes.

Located in Tempe at Hardy Drive and Elliot Road in the acclaimed Kyrene Elementary School District, the new San Capella community will offer unparalleled rental living in an area that hasn't seen a new multifamily development since the mid-1990s.

"The south I-10 corridor is home to many large technology and data center campuses," said Mark-Taylor Vice President Chris Brozina. "Those companies typically look to hire young, educated employees with aspirations to move up the corporate ladder. San Capella will provide young professionals with a high quality place to reside at a time when they might be more focused on their ascending career, and not necessarily ready for the commitment that comes with home ownership. Ultimately, the hope is that those future business leaders become immersed in the south Tempe lifestyle and choose to make the city their permanent home and raise families there."

San Capella's location is within minutes of large technology-based employers including Intel, Honeywell and Insight Enterprises and near upscale shopping and recreational attractions. The location is also ideal for business commuters due to its quick access to major freeways, light rail and Sky Harbor International Airport.

The community is an example of "The Next Generation of Mark-Taylor," a phrase the company uses to describe the evolution of apartment communities over the last two decades. San Capella's features include those expected in modern, custom homes, such as kitchen islands, custom wood cabinets, clean steel appliances, distressed wood plank flooring, oiled-bronze fixtures, pendant lighting and direct-access garages.

"With the features at these 'next-generation' communities, it's difficult to compare apartments today versus those built even 10 years ago. The interior finishes have clearly been taken to another level, but the amenities offered to renters rival those of professional spas and gyms," noted Brozina.

San Capella will offer a 24/7 fitness facility that includes virtual personal trainers and a yoga room, a cyber café with MAC and PC options, a social lounge, an outdoor cabana that includes a poolside kitchen, and the quintessential lagoon-style pool that has become a recognizable Mark-Taylor trademark over the years.

Rents are anticipated to range from $875 to $1600. The community is expected to open for leasing in August 2013. US Bank is providing the construction financing.
